Vishal Lamba: Science-Based Reasons to Read

As Vishal Lamb experienced it, bookworms can actually benefit from various positive aspects of reading, some of which are not linked to the nature of the material, only to the activity.

It Develops Empathy

Reading about other people’s lives make you put yourself in their shoes, and that can develop or improve your emphatic skills. Some studies suggest that fiction is even better for these purposes, because it allows the brain to go on a journey, which is something that might not be true to a non-fictional story.

A Great Way to Relax

Stress is one of the worst enemies when it comes to enjoying your everyday life, and the worst thing about it is that it can appear, disappear and reappear at any time, without warning, being sometimes triggered by a subconscious thought that you did not even know was there. Dealing with stress is hard, but reading can help you significantly. All you need is a good story, and you can escape through it, leaving the source of stress behind.

You Can Set a Good Example

If you have children and they see you read, it can inspire them to do the same, especially if they are still in their early teens. Even if they are older, sharing a great age-appropriate story with them can do wonders. It is also a well-known fact that children growing up in families where there is at least one, or potentially multiple bookworms, grow up to become book enthusiasts as well.
